Police say Texas Southern Univ. shooting suspect hid in attic

Police have taken a man into custody who was identified as a suspect in the deadly Texas Southern University on-campus shooting that also left another person wounded. Jartis LeBlanc Jr. is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. Officers were informed that LeBlanc was hiding in a home on Knox Street near Homer Street in northwest Houston.

When police arrived to that home, officers learned LeBlanc had crawled into the attic. A few hours after the Houston Police Department SWAT team arrived to the home, police arrested LeBlanc.

Freshman student Brent Randall was shot and killed in the parking lot of the University Courtyard apartment complex on the TSU campus on Oct. 9.

Investigators have determined that LeBlanc is a gang member and not a TSU student.
