Police release video of elevator stabbing suspect

Philadelphia Police have released video of a man they say stabbed a woman while attempting to rob her over the weekend.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at the elevated SEPTA station on the 2600 block of Kensington Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

Police say the victim, a 30-year-old woman, got into the elevator at the station when a man allegedly followed her inside and then demanded money.

He attempted to rifle through her pockets and stabbed her in the shoulder and the leg with a kitchen knife. Nothing was taken from the victim.

The suspect fled on foot, and the woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described as 5'8" and in his late 30s, standing 5'8" with a medium build and light beard.
