Police: man wearing rosary beads robs cell phone store

It was an unusual sight during a robbery as police say a man robbing a cell phone store was wearing rosary beads.

It happened around 2 p.m. Monday at the MetroPCS store located at 6330 Lawrenceville Highway near Tucker. Gwinnett County Police said the man told the clerk he needed to pay his balance on his account. Investigators said he then pulled out a gun and demanded money.

Police said the man threatened the clerk not to do anything crazy or he would shoot. The clerk then removed the money drawer. Police said the man threw the store phone on the ground before fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information about the man or his identity is asked to call the Gwinnett County Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
