Police investigate racist graffiti on homes, cars

Pinellas Park police think seven cases of graffiti vandalism in the same quiet neighborhood may be the work of the same individual.

Four of the seven had racial overtones, with the latest occurring Monday night becoming the most disturbing.

"Dumb n*** black lives matter for target practice" was scrawled in black paint on the side of a home in the Ciega Village subdivision west of 49th Street North.

The N-word was misspelled, and "matter" was spelled with three t's. The homeowners are out of state, but gave the city permission to paint over the graffiti.

The latest incident is next door to a home targeted for graffiti twice earlier this summer.

In the first case, "KKK" was sprayed in several places on a restored 1964 Impala.

Several weeks later, another car at the same address was vandalized, but in that case with streaks of spray paint and no words.

Last week a message including the words "Impeach Obama" was sprayed on a car three blocks away. The owner of that vehicle is white.

The other victims are African Americans.

Pinellas Park police say the neighborhood of modest but well-kept home is usually very quiet, and several residents confirmed it has long been racially integrated.
