Police are trying to solve a double homicide after two bodies were found in a midtown Houston street late on Sunday night. Leola Thompson says she was on the phone with her son as he spent his last moments alive.

The shootings were reported on Dennis Street near Fannin Street at around 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Two people were brutally murdered and their killers have not been captured.

Thompson was on the phone with her son, Robert Isaac, just before he was killed. Issac was a transgender who lived as a woman named Shontay.

"All I heard him say was, 'There they go, there they go,' and I was trying to get him back on the phone to ask him what was going on and he was just saying, 'Bye mama, bye mama -- I got to go,'” explains Thompson. She never had the opportunity to speak with her son again. "His friend came knocking on the door and told me I need to come downtown because she was dead.”

"From what I understand, there was a fight between Shontay and another person."

According to friends, Isaac had been in an ongoing feud with another transgender and had a confrontation with that person on Dennis Street on Sunday night.

"It had stopped and then it started back and stopped and started back and it was just going on,” says Thompson.

"Once I got here, I saw Shontay laying on the ground and I saw her friend laying on the ground,” describes one witness.

"I tried to get her right and she had stopped coming down this here way, she really did,” adds Thompson.

Isaac and a male, who hasn’t yet been identified, were killed on Dennis Street near Fannin Street. Witnesses say both were severely beaten and Isaac’s friend was also shot.

"I called the ambulance and they said to hold pressure on him, but he didn't make it," explains Isaac's friend. "Shontay was still breathing by the time the ambulance got here, but once they got her in the ambulance and started working on her, they said she didn't make it either. She passed.”

Family members say they have given investigators the name and photo of one person who they believe was involved in this double murder.
