SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old Scottsdale student who brought a gun to his school's campus. Scottsdale police spokesman Kevin Watts says officers responded to Chaparral High School on Thursday around 11:40 a.m. regarding reports of a student having a firearm.

School officials say 18-year-old Justin Perotti disclosed he had a handgun inside his parked vehicle.

Watts says Perotti was cooperative and allowed officers to access his car and weapon.

Perotti was booked on one count of carrying a weapon onto school grounds.

Police say there is nothing so far to indicate that there was any threat directed at the school's student body or its staff.

The arrest comes a day after a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida left 17 students and teachers dead.
