Pets displaced by Harvey reunited with owners at NRG Arena

The Pet Reunion Pavilion at NRG Arena has been reuniting people with their furry best friends displaced by Hurricane Harvey. So far, workers have reunited 27 animals displaced by the storm with their owners.

Buttercup, Rumple and Mulligan, and Lucke are just some of the happy pets reunited with their owners at the pavilion. Best Friends Animal Society shared their stories:

Buttercup

Harley has owned Buttercup since she was born. After the storm, he let her outside and the dog didn't come back like usual. He has been looking all over for the dog, checking different shelters and sites with no luck. Today Harley's mom called to say she finally saw Buttercup online, so he came right over to the NRG to get her. She was really excited to see him in her kennel and then once again outside. He really was reunited with his best friend.

Rumple and Mulligan

Monica and Jim live in Copperfield with their pets Mulligan and Rumple. They had recently moved just prior to the storm. A few days after the storm the dogs got out of their backyard. The dogs were picked up relatively close to each other, but no one knew they were a pair. Ironically, they were kenneled next to each other here at NRG. Jim posted missing pet information on Craigslist and received a few emails telling him to look at the Best Friends website. Once he looked, he found his pets.

Lucke

Nhi is from Vietnam and has been living in Houston for about 5 years. She got Lucke about 2-3 months before the hurricane came through and was separated from him during the storm. Nhi has been staying with a friend and searching various local rescues and shelters for her puppy, but no one knew of any dogs similar to Lucke. After a friend suggested she check to see if Best Friends had him at the Pet Reunion Pavilion, she checked the website and headed straight for NRG Arena!

The Pet Reunion Pavilion has more than 400 animals looking for their owners. The Pet Reunion Pavilion is located at 1 NRG Park in Exhibit Hall D.
