PARADE IS ON: Houston Astros parade slated for Friday

- UPDATE: Parade route extended two block south to St. Joseph to accommodate the celebration.


Houston's Mayor Sylvester Turner announced that the city of Houston will honor and celebrate the Houston Astros World Series historic 2017 win with a parade on Friday, November 3rd.

The parade is slated for 2 p.m., and city crews will prepare to shut down the parade route beginning at 1 p.m.  The parade staging area between Smith and Taft on Lamar will close to traffic at noon. The route will close to traffic beginning at 1PM for the parade honoring the players, coaches, staff and their families, ending in a celebration at City Hall.

The celebration will start on Smith at Lamar, proceeding north on Smith, east on Walker, south on Milam, west on Pease, north on Smith and ending at Lamar Street. 

"It's a true privilege to proudly host this magnificent salute to our hometown team that has earned history," said Mayor Turner. "As we bounce back from Hurricane Harvey, we are more than ready to welcome our heroes home in proper form, " said Mayor Turner.


Due to Hurricane Harvey, many of the garages downtown are not available. Please consider taking the MetroRail or using PARK & RIDE for the celebration. Street parking around the route is CLOSED. The City of Houston is working closely with multiple law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of all Houstonians.


The parade staging area between Smith and I-45 underpass on outbound Allen Parkway will close to traffic at noon. Allen Parkway inbound at Taft will be closed at 1 PM. McKinney exit off 1-45 South will be closed at 1 PM. Allen Parkway exit off I-45 South will remain open. Feel free to enjoy the parade at any point of the route! No bleachers are available to the general public. 


We’re painting the town orange! Wear your Houston Astros gear. Dress comfortably and please bring plenty of water. 

There are two designated ADA accessible locations on the route: Smith at Walker and Pease and Louisiana.
