Panhandler shot while begging in a North Houston median

HOUSTON, TX - Police say a homeless man is in serious condition after someone shot him while he was panhandling at approximately 11 pm last night. Authorities say the man was standing in the median at Tidwell and Antoine, in North Houston.

According to officers on the scene, when a silver car pulled up near the median, someone inside the car shot the panhandler and then drove away. The homeless man is expected to live. Houston police are checking for surveillance video and interviewing witnesses.
