HOUSTON - It’s one of those stories dog lovers just can’t comprehend.
How does someone who obviously cared for a pet just move away and leave that pet behind.
That was this dog’s saga who now goes by the name Beauty.
But there was nothing beautiful about her life for the last week or so.
Her owner skipped out on paying rent at a northwest side apartment and left beauty all alone on a second floor balcony for more than seven days.
A rescue group called Honoring Hope and Faith Rescue picked up beauty Friday afternoon.
Kayla Pippin, a founder of the rescue group says the apartment manager told her they wouldn’t be seeking criminal charges against the dog’s owner but would be going after that person for failing to pay the rent and damage done to the unit.
Pippin says the dog’s owner first claimed to be returning for the dog in five minutes.
But five hours passed and no one showed up.
The rescue group is now looking for a foster and forever home for Beauty.
Pippin says the dog was extremely timid at first keeping her tail between her legs.
But within minutes of getting off the second floor balcony the dog couldn’t stop wagging her tail and kissing everyone in sight.
