Overgrown tree trimmed after residents complain, crashes nearby

Residents in one Houston neighborhood are now breathing a sigh of relief after FOX 26 News got involved.

People who live near the Upper Kirby district say they have complained for months to the City of Houston about a crepe myrtle tree that is overgrown and blocking a stop sign.

Residents along the intersection of Sul Ross and Hazard streets say that obstruction has caused at least a half-dozen vehicle wrecks because drivers cannot see the sign, so they roll through, crashing into others.

But after a call from FOX 26 to the City's parks department, a crew was sent out in a matter of hours on Tuesday and the tree was trimmed down.
