The state of Oklahoma passed a bill today which could essentially ban abortions in the state by making it a felony for doctors to perform the procedure. The bill is the first of it's kind in our nation. Pro-Choice advocates say it's detrimental to women's health and unconstitutional since the bill undermines the Roe Vs. Wade decision making abortions legal in the U.S.Even Pro-Life advocates feel that this bill will not be effective in ending abortions.

If the bill passes it will lead to an expensive legal battle. The Center for Reproductive Rights sent a letter to Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin urging her to veto the bill. They also mentioned in the letter that they sued the state eight times because of their abortion restrictions and have won every time. As for a similar bill coming to Texas both sides think it's unlikely.
