Houston Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Southwest Houston after a man allegedly attacks an off-duty officer.

The incident took place 6:20 p.m. Thursday night at 1160 Rider Wood Drive, according to police.

According to a police spokesperson, a resident of the neighborhood who is a police officer was out walking with his dogs. Another man was out with a German Shepard, that was not on a leash. The German Shepard is said to have attacked the officer's dogs.

After the dogs got separated and the owners returned their pets to their homes, the officer went to the door of the suspect and identified himself as police.
