An off-duty Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable was struck by a car on the Eastex freeway, as he was investigating the damage around another crash scene, said authorities. The Deputy Constable has been rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He sustained two broken legs and a ruptured femur from the accident.

The Deputy Constable reportedly was investigating the scene of a earlier accident that happened overnight on Eastex Freeway.  When he got out the patrol car, he was struck by at least one vehicle. The driver did not stop at the scene. There was a female passenger inside the car with the deputy constable who was not injured in the crash.

This is the second time in a week where a law enforcement officer in Houston was struck on a highway.  Officer Nestor Garcia, rookie HPD officer was also hit earlier this week on Wednesday. Garcia is now recovering from severe injuries he sustained in the crash.
