Oakley boy raises money for homeless

- When Kayden McCarty noticed the homeless people asking for food and work, he asked his mother if he could raise $10 to buy someone a hot meal.

Instead, he held a snack and hot chocolate stand at his house and raised over $300 to make winter care packages for homeless people.

Kayden went shopping and made seven care packages containing blankets, beanies, gloves, socks, umbrellas, toiletries, and a first aid kit to give to the homeless.

His mother, Kimberly Sornia, says "It was such a wonderful and humbling experience to see my son put others before himself".

Kayden says he hopes to hold another fundraiser soon to provide to more people in his community.
