NTSB investigates Amtrak train accident near Philadelphia

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A federal investigation is underway into an Amtrak accident near Philadelphia. A train, carrying more than 300 passengers, derailed after hitting a piece of heavy construction equipment on the tracks this morning , killing two Amtrak workers and sending more than 30 passengers to hospitals. The data recorder and video from the locomotive have been recovered.

 

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Amtrak says there could be some delays today as it resumes normal service following a fatal derailment outside Philadelphia, where a train struck heavy equipment on the tracks, killing the equipment operator and a supervisor. Federal officials are investigating the crash. Amtrak says commuters may encounter delays between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware.
