HOUSTON (FOX 26)
A judge has ordered the Harris County Sheriff's Office to leave capital murder suspect Shannon Miles right where he is. Miles, charged in the August 2015 shooting death of Deputy Darren Goforth, will remain 61st on the list to be to transferred to Vernon State Hospital.
Texas Senator John Whitmire initially intervened and wanted the Texas Department of Health and Safety to expedite moving Miles up the list. Neither prosecution nor defense attorneys requested for Sen. Whitmire to do that.
Defense attorneys for Miles, led by Anthony Osso, want Miles to remain where he is on the list and allow due process to run its course.
Prosecutors had no comment on the matter.
An emergency hearing for Miles took place in February that halted the immediate transfer to the mental facility.
