Multiple religious groups hold prayer vigil for New York, Texas victims

Members of the Houston-area Muslim community and the Alliance for Compassion and Tolerance, as well as other religious groups, gathered at a north Houston mosque on Tuesday night to remember lives that should never have been lost.

Victims of the worst mass shooting in Texas history have a bond with the lives lost in the most recent U.S. terrorist attack in New York City. They were all innocent lives taken by two men filled with hatred and rage.

How to combat someone so deranged and determined to kill was on everyone's mind at the prayer vigil.

We are all the same and want the same things.

To be happy and not suffer.

That was the message conveyed at the vigil along with how to look for signs when someone appears to be going off the deep end.

Those speaking made it clear they condemn the senseless acts of violence in New York and Texas and their hearts go out to the innocent victims and their families.
