The mother, who we are not identifying since her daughter is the victim of a sex attack, says she’s been living a nightmare.
When she first met 37-year-old Derwin Toliver it was to discuss inappropriate things she says his son was saying to her daughter.
They were both in elementary school at the time.
Then this mother says it was Toliver who began sexting her child.
“This man was preying on my child,” she said.
After at least two years of sexting this mother says Toliver started showing up at her daughter’s bus stop when she began attending Spring High School.
“And what’s scary he didn’t care he wasn’t afraid of me he wasn’t afraid of the police because when I confronted him and he saw me at that bus stop he just went on to the next bus stop,” the mother said. “That’s boldness.”
The distraught mother says she would call 911 every time she saw Toliver at the bus stop.
“When I would call the police sometimes they would come sometimes they wouldn’t come,” she said.
According to court documents on at least two occasions Toliver took the girl from the bus stop to his home he shares with his wife and three children.
This is where police say Toliver sexually assaulted the girl.
We knocked on the door but no one was at home.
“I have to forgive this man I have to pray for his children because at the end of the day not only my child was violated but now those children have lost something as well,” the mother said.
She tells us she’s lucky she still has her daughter.
She advises other parents who find themselves in a similar situation not to give up that justice will prevail.
