KATY, Texas (FOX 26) - A husband and wife were found dead in their Katy home on Wednesday afternoon.
Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide investigators reported that they responded to request around 3 p.m. for a welfare check at a house in the 3000 block of Meadow Field in the Katy Oaks subdivision. Police said what prompted police to drive by the house around 3 o'clock this afternoon was actually a call from the ex-husband of the wife.
The ex-husband and the wife, who was found deceased, have a 14-year-old daughter. Police said the husband who was found dead had texted the ex-husband earlier, saying to come and pick the 14-year-old daughter up after school because something was going to happen. Police said when the ex-husband arrived, he felt something was very off so didn't go inside the house.
Instead, the ex-husband called the police.
“Deputies responded to the scene, made entry into the house. They located a black male and a black female who suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the head inside the residence. It appears to be a murder-suicide,” said Sergeant Ben Beall with the Homicide Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The sergeant with the homicide division says the couple that was found dead have an extensive history of domestic violence issues dating back to 2009.
He also said that the domestic violence complaints came from both the husband and the wife.
Police are not releasing the names of the two who have died because their family has not been notified yet.
The Institute of Forensic Science will determine cause of death.
