HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A manhunt is underway for at least one gunman and after two people were shot and killed at two different locations.
A 61-year-old woman was gunned down outside her East Harris County home as she left for work around 6:00 a.m. Investigators believe it was her estranged husband who shot her, and that may have only been the beginning for the gunman.
"I didn’t hear the guy but I heard the girl screaming ‘No. Please no'. Then that’s when the shots started going,” explains an 11-year-old witness. “It was pretty scary. At first I thought it was a prank with just like flashes but that’s when I saw him dragging her body. I was scared. That’s when I knew it was real."
Harris County sheriff’s investigators says the 61-year-old woman and her 53-year-old estranged husband were separated and in the process of divorcing.
"When I looked I saw him grab her by the hair and she tried getting out of his hands and that’s when the shots started happening,” adds the little boy.
Several neighbors saw the gunman drive away in a black Toyota Tundra. A short time later workers at a trucking company a few miles away saw a man in a black pick up truck drive up alongside a manager and open fire into the supervisor's pick up, killing him.
”I heard four gunshots,” explains one man.
”Sounded like a vehicle back firing."
”Me and my co-workers thought they were firecrackers.”
Friends and family of the man shot and killed say they have no idea who would want to hurt him.
”He’s a hard working guy, real quiet. He stayed to himself, loved his kids,” explains friend and co-worker Ralph Myles.
”My brother's a good person. That's why I don't understand what's really going on here,” says the man’s sister Beverly Quiller.
"It's just a hurting feeling for something like that to happen,” says Myles.
Harris County Sheriff’s investigators say they were able to get good surveillance video from the area. Detectives did not immediately say the two homicides were connected but the investigation is ongoing.
