Man wanted for questioning after woman fatally struck by truck, three injured

- Houston police are on the lookout for a man who is wanted for questioning after police say his ex-girlfriend, who is a mother of four, was run over multiple times, along with several others.

Police are searching for Rigoberto Alexander Escobar, who is believed to be in his 30s. Houston police are also searching for an early 2000’s Ford F-150 with Texas plates GTJ-7424.

Police say it all started early Sunday morning when Dixa Rios, 38, along with three of her friends were walking across the street in the 5200 block of Telephone Road to JoJo’s when a truck hit them.

“Apparently there was maybe one or two people out here who were telling this suspect after he ran over her the first time, 'hey stop stop stop there is somebody underneath your car', and apparently the suspect did not care, threw the vehicle in reverse and ran over her again," says Sergeant Joshua Horn with the Houston Police Department. "He goes on to the other side of the roadway, drives northbound for whatever reason makes a U-turn and then strikes are female victim again as it’s traveling northbound down the roadway."

Rios died at the scene. Adan Salgado, 36, Celso Velasquez, 32 and Maneesh Roberts, 46, were transported to area hospitals

Standing very close to where the scene happened just hours before, Alanna Garza is mourning the loss of her friend. “I’m so devastated because she was like my sister,” says Garza.

Anyone with information on Escobar's whereabouts or the case is asked to call HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
