Man killed after suspects attempt to steal his car

On a Sunday afternoon when 47-year-old Pedro Aguilar's18 year old son should be spending time with him, he is now sitting at home with family, mourning his dad's loss.

At about 11 p.m. Saturday night a 911 call was made of a car jacking right outside of the Greenbriar Park North apartment complex in the 800 block of Richcrest Drive. Two men said to be in their late teens to early 20s attempted to steal Pedro Aguilar's vehicle. At the time he, his wife and 10-year-old child were just getting home.

"Mr. Aguilar exited his car, he was pistol whipped and shot one time, he died at the scene", says Sgt. Ben Beall with the homicide unit of the Harris County Sheriffs Office.

"We live here in the complex and we offer our condolences to the family", says Edward Padilla who lives at the complex.

"The guy mad because it's a standard, not automatic, the car, he was mad", says Ceasar Pordello, a family friend.

Sgt. Ben Beall says, "we are hoping to recover some video from the area and also, research any other cases of car jackings where we may be able to develop a suspect vehicle and further suspect information".

Police are looking for a silver or white 4-door car. They say a third person of interest dropped the pair off at that location and then picked them up soon after.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
