Man convicted in murder of person who was lit on fire

Curtis Holliman

The Harris County District Attorney's Office has announced that Curtis Holliman was found guilty of murder in the January 2016 death of a man who was lit on fire. He has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Holliman was charged with murder in the death of Dexter Taylor.

Police arrested Curtis Holliman, 32, after Dexter Taylor, 46, suffered burns to his body and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Jan. 18, 2016.

Holliman had argued with Dexter and Dexter's father, attorney Kirby Taylor, before he threw gasoline on them and lit them on fire at a home on Ewing Street near the South Freeway in southeast Houston, according to police. Kirby had suffered burns to his body determined not to be life-threatening.
