Man carrying huge cross 40 miles to Sutherland Springs to honor victims

A Texas man is on a special mission to pay his respects to the victims of the Sutherland Springs church shooting.

Miguel Zamora, of New Braunfels, is walking 40 miles to the First Baptist Church while carrying a massive cross on his shoulders. The cross has 26 stars on it to represent each victim lost. It reads "One nation under God," and "We love you Sutherland Springs." The cross weighs between 150 and 200 pounds.

Zamora says he pushes on, despite the pain and bruising.

“I’m pretty tired but I’ve got a mission. To show my love and show the love of God to families,” Zamora says.

One woman who passed by Miguel while she was driving says she felt inspired to stop and tell him he’s doing a good job.

“I was on my way home and I saw Miguel out here. And I said, I have to turn back and tell him what a great job he’s doing and he’s an inspiration to all of us,” Lupe Rodriguez said.

Zamora says people stopping to give him encouragement is what’s keeping him going.
