Man arrested in sexual assault of child case

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office child abuse unit have arrested a man who has been charged with sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child.

With help from members of the HCSO High Tech Crimes unit, deputies arrested William Joseph Campbell, 22, at a home on Freida Lane in the Spring area on Friday.

Child Abuse unit investigators say Campbell carried on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female over a period of more than a year.

Campbell and the girl met through mutual friends and Campbell began to contact the girl online, according to HCSO.

At one point, investigators say Campbell coerced her to send sexually-graphic pictures of herself to him using online chat apps.

The girl later told family members about the relationship and they notified HCSO which launched an investigation into Campbell. He is scheduled to appear in the 179th felony court to be arraigned on Monday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse unit along with members of the HCSO High Tech Crimes unit served an arrest warrant this morning Friday, October 21, 2016 on a residence in the 17800 block of Freida Lane in north Harris County.

Investigators arrested 22 year old William Joseph Campbell for sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child.

Child Abuse investigators say Campbell had a sexual relationship with a 16 year old female juvenile for over a year.

The two met through friends, and Campbell originated online conversations that turned sexual in nature after a while.

He had sexual relations with the female, and over a period of time coerces her to send pictures of herself graphic in nature to him via online chat apps.

The female victim made an outcry to family members, and they in turn notified Sheriff’s Office personnel who initiated an investigation.

He will be in court for arraignment on Monday, October 24, 2016, in the 179th felony court.
