Man arrested in connection to missing 2-year-old from College Station

According to Galveston County court records, 32-year-old Kenny D'Shawn Hewett was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said Hewett is the boyfriend of 21-year-old Tiaundra Kae Christon, the mother of 2-year-old Hazana Anderson. Hazana’s been reported missing since Sunday.

Hazana's father, Tabodrick Anderson, said he didn't know much about Hewett -- only that he was dating Christon.

On Halloween afternoon, College Station and Bryan police, Texas DPS Rangers and members of the dive team from the Galveston County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of a small child from the Moses Bayou near Hwy 146 in Texas City.

“Still feels like a bad dream to me. From what investigators told me, with the mother of my child's story and the boyfriend's-- both stories lead them to that location and they were pretty confident that it is the remains of my daughter,” Anderson said.

Hours after the gruesome discovery, Christon's boyfriend, Hewett, was arrested and charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse.

Authorities said they can't confirm the identity of the child's body until they receive the result's from the medical examiner's office. However, Anderson was told a different story.

“From what I was informed, the article of clothing that was found on the remains of the child were identical to what was described by my child's mother,” Anderson said.

On Sunday morning, Christon reported Hazana missing to police. She claims she brought the toddler to a park in College Station and walked away briefly to get Hazana a bottle from the car. When she returned, Christon told authorities Hazana was missing from her stroller.

A day later, on Monday, Christon was arrested by College Station Police and charged with abandoning, endangering a child and false reporting..

Police said Christon put Hazana at risk by leaving her near a body of water and apparently lied to the authorities that she did not know about a bag of Hazana's clothing found in a dumpster.
