Second Southwest flight diverted due to cabin pressure issues

Southwest Airlines experienced problems in the air for a second day in a row for passengers heading to Houston.

On Wednesday, flight 43 from Dallas to Houston made an emergency landing back at Dallas Love Field due to what the airline says the captain received indications of cabin pressure issues.

This comes one day after another Southwest flight had a similar problem. On Tuesday, a flight from Atlanta to Houston made an emergency landing in Mississippi due to cabin pressure issues.

Passengers aboard Wednesday's flight say it was only in the air about 20 minutes before flight crews abruptly stopped beverage service and announced the flight would be turning around.  Passengers say that's when oxygen masks deployed.

In a statement issued Wednesday evening, Southwest Airlines said, "The Captain in command of Southwest flight #43 from Dallas to Houston returned to Dallas after receiving a cockpit indication that there was a pressurization issue. Following our established protocol and procedures, the Pilots completed a safe landing and the aircraft is being taken out of service for inspection."

Passengers said a new aircraft was waiting at the gate when they arrived back in Dallas. They say all passengers were placed on that aircraft, which eventually landed at Houston's Hobby Airport shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Overall, passengers expressed satisfaction with the conduct of flight crews in handling Wednesday's incident.
