HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A Houston police officer found himself ambushed and in a gun battle while trying to sell his personal firearms in Southeast Houston.
The officer has been identified as C. Curry who's been with the force for a year.
A spokesman for HPD says officer Curry was meeting someone at Cloverland Park on Scott and Hickok Lane to sell several of his own guns. That's after he placed an ad on TexasGunTrader.com.
When the officer finally made contact with one of the buyers in the park we're told that man pulled a gun on Curry who was still in his truck at the time.
When officer Curry tried to throw his vehicle in reverse a spokesman for HPD says one of the two alleged buyers tried to shoot him but the gun jammed.
The officer was able to pull out his gun and there was a short gun battle.
One of the suspects was hit while the other man got away.
Senties also says the officer was checking the buyers Identification to make sure they were of age...
Curry will be assigned to desk duty during an investigation into the incident
