HOUSTON (FOX 26) - You could hardly call this the work of the welcome wagon. Hector Salazar lives just yards away from the new Pct 6 building and says he's heard the shots ring out between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
"It was just bang, bang, bang. I don't know if they were shooting at who. I don't know. But it sounded real loud. It was back over there," Salazar said.
He says he stayed inside. He says he heard six shots. We found four bullet holes. One of them in a third story window, one in a ground floor window, and two in a construction trailer. One bullet appears to have been tumbling when it struck.
Deputies say while it's not widely known yet, they do have some units already in there and the building wasn't vacant when the bullets slammed in.
"We do have dispatch operations and we did have a few deputies working since Tuesday night so there has been some people here," said Chief Armando Tello.
The construction company has some cameras set up, mostly to deter vandalism and theft. Workers are setting to security cameras for the building itself right now. It's not clear if any of them caught anything.
While gunfire around here is not uncommon, shooting at a building occupied by law enforcement officers is. And for people here, this is just too much.
"It's bad. Something has to be done about this. People getting killed every night," said Salazar.
