Man dead, woman injured in shooting in northwest Harris Co.

- A man is dead and a woman has been shot in a neighborhood in Cypress.

The Harris County Sheriffs Office was called out to the 16,000 block of Coralbend Drive just after 12:00 pm Saturday.

“It’s kind of a strange thing to happen on a normal Saturday afternoon when children are playing”, says Lauri Hardeman who lives down the street.

Detectives were seen kicking in the front door of a house after hearing a woman inside screaming. They say inside the foyer a 35 year old man was found dead because of a gun shot wound. A woman was also found nearby.

“The 43-year-old female was laying inside the foyer area also, she sustained a gunshot wound also”, says Sgt. Thomas Gilliland.

Several neighbors were home at the time and witnesses what happened.

“Heard to police sirens kind of screeching down the street and win the third one arrived the patrolman exit of their vehicles with guns drawn, kicked down the door and then we saw two young maybe preteen or just a little younger coming out and they ushered them into the first vehicle”; says Hardeman.

Shortly after another neighbor saw the woman being transported to the hospital.
Katie Porter-Waldrap says, “you could hear her screaming help me help me, you couldn’t really see anything but you know she’s a very small woman she’s probably about 100 pounds and you could see her arms flailing and her screaming”

“No known motive is yet, there were two witnesses in the home and they are being interviewed right now to see if there is anything that happened before deputies arrived, if there was an altercation, verbal, physical”, says Sgt. Gilliland.

Folks that live down the street tell us that they have seen police on this street on several occasions and that they aren’t sure what happened.

“He was a nice guy, I just think there were problems”, says Porter-Waldrap.

HCSO officials say that two teenagers were inside the home at the time and that they called 911. The woman is expected to be okay.
