Harris County deputies arrested a man after a police chase, gunfire and a standoff inside his grandmother's home daycare in Channelview Thursday afternoon.

Deputies say it started with the suspect, Jonas Dunlap, 19, ran a red light and almost hit a patrol car. He sped away and bailed out of his car at Mincing at Ambrosden. A teen woman and infant were also in the car but were not hurt, according to deputies.

Deputies say Dunlap fired two shots at deputies as he took off on foot, running into his grandmother's daycare and hiding in the attic.

Deputies safely evacuated all eight children in the daycare and the suspect's grandmother through a window and spent the next couple of hour negotiating with the suspect in an effort to get him to leave the attic.

SWAT, Harris County sheriff's deputies and constables deputies blocked traffic on several blocks surrounding J & P Bundle of Love Child Care at 1400 Ledenhall Cir.

Deputies say there is a warrant out for Dunlap's arrest in an Arkansas burglary. He will now also face a charge of aggravated assault of a peace officer for firing shots during the chase.
