Kid Battling Cancer gets Support Around the World

Jaxon Ingram is fighting for his life. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia back in October. Thanks to postcards from strangers both near and far, he knows he's not alone.

"We thought it would be a stretch to say we could get them from all 50 states," Jaxon's father Jason Ingram said. "But now we're starting to think if there's any continent we're not going to get one from really.”

Ingram says his son has gotten cards from all over the world, including dozens from London, one from South Korea, and even one from Mickey Mouse.

"He got one from Hawaii and they sent him two t-shirts and a hat along with a card and it said, 'I want you to visit and I want you to be my little surfing buddy,’” said Ingram.

Other's have referred to him as a rock star, even a hero. His aunt, Kelly Blackmon, is happily helping him keep them organized.

She says all the love and support has been overwhelming.

“People we don't even know sending support and prayers is just drawing everyone closer, not just our family, but everyone,” said Blackmon.

And according to his dad, it’s also helped keep his spirits up.

"He's had a couple bad days where he's been sick, but for the most part, it hasn't slowed him down,” Ingram said.

It's instead made him a little stronger and a little wiser.

Jaxon will begin his third phase of chemo on Monday. Because of that we were not able to visit with him in person, but his dad says he should find out by the end of the week if he is cancer free.
