Eight couples say ‘I Do' on Valentine's Day

The Courthouse Wedding Chapel held eight weddings this Valentine’s Day.  The dressed-up, simple wedding, is becoming more popular according to Chaplain Pat Blissett, who is the Presiding Officiant at the chapel.

“This is designed to be an alternative to going to the courthouse or having a wedding in the office,” said Blissett. “It’s a better aesthetic.”

The motto of the courthouse is “Simple. Sweet. And Short.”  The service and pictures take no longer than fifteen minutes. Friends and family can attend in small numbers, and the venue gives the option of providing the bridal bouquet, music, food and decorations.

“So it’s affordable and it’s enjoyable and family gets to be a participant.”

Blisset said she has been doing these weddings for years, and couldn’t be happier with her job.  She said it caters to every budget, and it reduces the stress on the couple who doesn’t have to worry about the set up or tear down.

“It’s exciting because every story is different, and I just get such a good feeling, I mean what better job could you have?”
