Christmas wish granted: Pearland family welcomes U.S. Marine dad home

- A story that will warm your heart this Christmas.  A family in Pearland just received the ultimate Christmas gift thanks to the generous efforts of many people on Gofundme.  Roxanne-Marie Patlan and her four precious children have gone almost a year without dad.  The U.S. Marine flew in Christmas Eve and this story is full of many surprises.

It’s a Christmas wish come true but for the Patlans it was more like a miracle.  At Bush Interncontinental Airport 3 month old Raphael met his dad for the first time.

“He has so much hair, he's beautiful, he's just like all the pictures. Oh my gosh he's grown so fast. I feel like I missed so much,” C.J. Patlan said looking at his baby boy.

C.J. has been stationed in Japan for close to a year.  He witnessed his baby boy being born via Facetime.  Fortunately, he’s home for his first Christmas,

“Oh I'm just so glad that he's home. I'm so happy he's able to meet his baby,” Roxanne-Marie Patlan said.

The couple is forever grateful to friends and perfect strangers who donated on Gofundme so C.J. could get a plane ticket home.

“I'm just so thankful. We didn't expect the $2000 at all. I didn't think he would come home. I didn't he would meet his son this fast,” Roxanne-Marie Patlan said.

Earlier this Christmas Eve we went to the Patlan home and met Raphael’s two big brothers and big sister.  They weren’t finding out till later in the evening dad’s home.

“The big box is what I wrapped for him to hide in. Whenever he comes home, we're going to sneak him in. And I'll tell the kids you have one present you can open and this is it,” Roxanne explained.

C.J. will be jumping out of the box.  Come February the whole family will be moving to Japan.
