THE WOODLANDS, TX (FOX 26) - JJ Watt has donated $10,000 to the family of a Woodlands High School football player who suffered a head injury during a playoff game.
Watt donated the money with the message, "If there's anything that I can do to help, please let me know. Sending my best wishes to Grant and the entire Milton family."
There is no active bleeding or signs of clotting. The injury was on the right side of the brain. The initial trauma and subsequent swelling put intense pressure on his brain and brain stem. The recent scan shows his brain stem has now returned to normal form, however, it is still to early to tell what impact the injury had on his brain stem and brain function overall. His left pupil is slow to react and his right is normal. Grant is still breathing over the ventilator which makes us hopeful that at some point he can breath on his own but it will be some time before we get to that point. His arm movements are still somewhat reactive and slight, no intentional movement yet. Grant has been taking tiny steps each day.
