BEAUMONT, Texas (FOX 26) - A winner claimed a $1 million Powerball prize just hours before the ticket was set to expire on Thursday.
The ticket was purchased in Beaumont for the drawing on October 27, 2018, and matched all five of the white ball numbers but not the red Powerball number. The prize was worth $1 million.
Winners have until the end of the 180th day following the draw date to claim their prize. Texas Lottery said the ticket was going to expire on April 25 at 5 p.m.
Lottery officials say a Lumberton resident claimed the prize hours before the deadline. The winner elected to remain anonymous.
“On behalf of the Texas Lottery, I want to congratulate the winner on their luck and good fortune,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.
