The two Marines from the Houston area who were killed back in January were honored earlier today at the Fallen Warriors Memorial.

Hundreds were in attendance at the dedication service to honor the lives of Major Shawn Campbell and Corporal Matthew Drown. The two marines tragically lost their lives back on January 14th after two CH-53E helicopters went down during a training mission in Oahu, Hawaii. Ten other marines lost their lives as well.

Major Campbell was the pilot of one of the helicopters, he leaves behind his wife and four children. Corporal Drown was 23 years old, and was looking forward to re-enlist with the Marines, he is survived by his parents and siblings.

The service was an emotional one, with helicopters flying overhead, and a 21-gun salute. There was also the unveiling of paintings of each man for the families to take home. Pavers inscribed with their names will ensure that their memories will live on.

Major Campbell’s mother Donna was thankful for the turnout.

“We all just appreciate the honor because the boys deserve the honor." she said. "All 12 of them they deserve it."
