J.J. Watt, Jose Altuve deliver new truck to local contest winner

Papa John's Houston and Gullo Ford of Conroe - The Woodlands rewarded one lucky winner a new 2018 F-150 from their Papa's Pickup contest.

That lucky winner from Pearland was selected from around 700 entries.

"It’s unbelievable, it’s surreal," said winner Donald Hayes.

Sure winning the truck was great, but it was who delivered the new set of wheels that drew the crowds and the excitement from Hayes.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and Astros star second basemen Jose Altuve presented the new truck to Hayes at his home in Pearland.

“I can’t imagine how happy he is and to be next to J.J. right now doing this I mean I like it, it means a lot," said Altuve.

"It's pretty awesome. I mean, obviously, Houston has some pretty incredible sports teams and to be able to kind of combine forces and come together and see all the fans and be able to put some smiles on some peoples faces, it's incredible," said Watt.

A small group of fans, under 100, were invited to meet the sports stars of this giveaway. Pictures and autographs followed a brief drive around the neighborhood with the new owner and outspoken fan.

"I have a set of Astrodome seats in there [house], but embarrassingly I don't have the legs on them yet so I had to cut a square of indoor/outdoor carpet, lay it in front of my mantle and flop my seats down on it, but I did get a signature from each one of them on the back of my Astrodome seats," said an excited Hayes.

Papa John's Houston and Gullo Ford held a social media contest from November 1 to March 31, 2018 to enter to win "Papa's Pickup."

To enter to win, there were 3 easy steps:

First, spot the Papa's Pickup truck.

Second, take a picture of the truck.

Lastly, post this picture to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #papaspickup.

Contestants were eligible to enter to win once a day. This pickup truck was wrapped with logos and images of Houston sports figures  Jose Altuve, James Harden and J.J. Watt.

"Thank you for the overwhelming participation in the 'Papa's Pickup' contest. We were thrilled to partner with Gullo Ford to reward a local Houstonian this amazing opportunity," said Keith Sullins, President of Papa John's Houston.
