UHD students creating graphic novels to promote social change

Comic books, or graphic novels as they’re sometimes referred to, used to be considered distractions in the classroom.

Now, professors are embracing the medium and helping students learn how to utilize comics as a vehicle for effective storytelling. At the University of Houston-Downtown, students are not just spinning fantastic stories using comics, they’re using the art form to promote social change.

On the Factor to talk about this are UHD fine art students Bobby Ramos and Chelsea Mark-Ray and bilingual education major Brenda Chapa.
