Bill would give $5,000 raise for full-time Texas teachers

The Texas Senate is asking for billions of dollars for teacher raises.

Senators introduced a bill on Tuesday that would give full-time teachers a $5,000 annual raise. The bill is one of many filed in both the Texas House of Representatives and Senate aimed at boosting funding for public schools. Lawmakers have until the end of May to pass the bill but the question is, will they?

Houston Federation of Teachers president Zeph Capo discusses the bill with Isiah Carey.
