Bill introduced to reduce prosecutions of rent-to-own customers

Texas State Senator Borris Miles wants to restrain the practice of prosecuting people who default on rent-to-own contracts for household items like televisions and furniture. A joint investigation by the Texas Tribune and NerdWallet in late 2017 found that rent-to-own companies, which often cater to low-income people, have pressed charges against thousands of customers in Texas and other states.

Sen. Miles discusses his proposed bill with Isiah Carey.
