In their shoes: Two Houston DJs spend night on streets to understand plight of homelessness

Just $10, a bus pass, donated clothes and two tents. That is all KSBJ/NGEN Radio DJs Ayana Mack and Carder Price had to sustain them as they spend two nights and three days undercover on Houston’s streets, walking in the shoes of Houston’s homeless population.

The purpose of this joint project with the Star of Hope is to raise awareness about Houston’s homeless – what it feels like to live and walk in their shoes – and to learn how we can all help through the Star of Hope. Carder and Ayana shared this experience with undercover Precinct 1 deputies. The deputies also learned about homelessness to better serve this population and provide security, but Carder and Ayana made all decision-making about what to eat, where to sleep and what to do.

Carder and Ayana visited the Star of Hope facilities and homeless areas of Houston to prepare. For more information about this project, www.KSBJ.org or www.NGENradio.com
