MAGNOLIA, Texas (FOX 26) - The bankruptcy of a bridal company has brought together two women from Magnolia, Texas.
Kacey Boehler ordered seven navy bridesmaids gowns from Alfred Angelo for her November wedding. She says three of her bridesmaids have their dresses. The rest have receipts, but are now in limbo after Alfred Angelo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Friday.
“We had about 45 minutes notice,” recalled Boehler, sharing the voicemail her bridesmaid received from the Alfred Angelo store where the dresses were ordered. A store employee tells the bridesmaid to pick up the dress within the hour or she will not be able to get it at all. Alfred Angelo permanently closed all U.S. stores Friday afternoon.
"It doesn't ruin my wedding. I'm still going to marry the man of my dreams, but -- we're going to make it work. We have no choice at this point,” says Boehler.
After receiving the news, one of Boehler’s bridesmaids notice a picture of a woman’s recent wedding on Facebook.
“My day was a dream,” says Breanna Dempsey, the bride in those photos. The Magnolia native had just gotten married weeks ago with her bridesmaids wearing assorted navy Alfred Angelo dresses.
Boehler reached out to Dempsey. “ She got to talk to her bridesmaids and made it so I could potentially buy the dresses from them,” Boehler explained.
At least one match has been made between Boehler and Dempsey’s bridesmaids. Boehler is feeling confident the hiccup will not ruin her big day, as Dempsey enjoys re-living a bit of the magic. “To see that again or a little glimpse of it is definitely a really cool feeling."
Boehler encourages fellow Alfred Angelo brides to search for bridal groups on Facebook, where she says she’s seen plenty of women offering to help.
