Houston pastor, wife, killed by street racer

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Theirs is a love story that lasted more than 3 decades. Jesse Estrada Sabillon, 60, and his 68-year-old wife, Maria, were proud parents of 3 sons and 5 grandchildren. 

“My in-laws were Godly, good people,” said daughter-in-law Denise Sabillon. 

And it only took a second Tuesday night in NW Harris County to take it all away. 

“It's sad that two beautiful souls were taken, two lives were taken over street racing. They were gone too soon," said Sabillon.

Police say a now mangled pick-up was racing a dark colored Dodge Challenger or Charger on Bammel North Houston near the Sam Houston Tollway. The car stopped at the red light but the truck did not and t-boned the couple's BMW, killing them. 

“Please parents, watch what your sons, your daughters, young people on the street. It's affecting all parents, all community, racing, speeding,” said Felipe Alvarado, the victim’s nephew.

The driver of the truck, 21-year-old Mexican National Alexis De LaRosa Sosa, fled the scene on foot and was still on the loose as of Wednesday night. 

“They just need to come forward accept responsibility. If it was a mistake it was a mistake, but they need to own up to it. They took two innocent lives how can you run and live with that?” said Sabillon.

Jesse Estrada Sabillon was a carpenter and pastor of a small Baptist church. 

“There are no words.  He was an example in the family dedicated to his family ours in the community too,” said Alvarado.

Making things even harder to handle, the couple died while returning home after visiting their niece who had just given birth to a baby boy. 

“They just came from a hospital celebrating the life and that night their lives ended,” said Sabillon.
