Houston Humane Society takes in dogs from alleged Louisiana puppy mill

More than 50 small and medium breed dogs are in Houston tonight after being rescued from an alleged puppy mill in Louisiana.

The dogs arrived at the Houston Humane Society today.

The shelter is helping St. Landry Parish Animal Control.

Veterinarians and vet techs were standing by to begin medical evaluations and care for the dogs.

The pups were reportedly forced to live in their own feces with little to no care.

Those pups are on the road to recovery and they're going to need forever homes. But it will be at least a week before the dogs are available for adoption or foster.
