HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Two Houston area women have started a kids t-shirt company that sends a great message. This all started several months ago when Erika Graham, who runs a non-profit, saw a shirt with the words "Be awesome" on the front. Thinking that the shirt would put a lot on kids, Graham joked with her close friend, Judy Le, about how they could make better shirts that are based on five core values that kids should possess, and that's when Unitee Values was born.
Their website is unique since customers can shop based on the five core values: grit and growth, courage, friendship, creativity, and kindness. With sayings like "Kind is the new cool" and "Mistakes are proof I'm trying" the ladies hope the shirts will start a conversation amongst adults.
"We design the shirts for kids to wear but the feedback we're getting is that the messages are really more for the parents and that's been a wonderful, you know, such a wonderful process," says founder Judy Le.
The t-shirts range from $28 to $35, are gender neutral, and come in various kid's sizes. Proceeds from Unitee goes to Project 88, which is Erika Graham's nonprofit that helps bring college advisors to underserved high schools in our area. However, both women are taking applications for other organizations in the Houston area that could use their help.
