HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Some Houston-area residents who were visiting Las Vegas over the weekend are arriving back home on Monday with stories they will never forget. Even the ones who did not witness the shooting firsthand think similarly, calling it a horrifying event.
The massacre was captured on hundreds of cell phones during a Jason Aldean performance, part of the Route 91 Harvest Festival. In attendance were Sharon and Tim Cluck, who arrived back home to Houston on Monday.
"People everywhere laying on the ground...blood, dead people," recalls Sharon. "There were people dead. People that were doing CPR trying to revive them. There were bodies everywhere. There was a girl that was laying next to Tim who had been shot in the foot and she asked him to bandage her foot with her scarf and he did that."
This trip was the first to the festival in Las Vegas for Sharon and Tim.
Kelly Cooper, another Houston-area resident, who will also never forget her first time to Harvest Fest.
"So we were on the right side of the stage," says Cooper, who planned the Las Vegas trip with four of her friends more than a year ago. "We were right next to one of the bars."
"The first couple rounds went off and we were kind of like looking around in the crowd to see what's going on, and a couple people just kind of hit the ground, but luckily we got out of there in time," adds Cooper.
Sadly, that wasn't the case for at 59 others, now victims of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
"As we went down the street, there were pickup trucks, dumpsters...anything that people could get to put bodies in, to put hurt people in, to put dead people in," says Sharon.
