Homework-free "Family nights" now designated at Katy ISD schools

- Enjoy a litte extra "family-time!" Katy ISD is trying to find a better balance between students' emotional health and schoolwork.  The district has blocked off 6 homework-free "family nights" in its 2017-2018 calendar.  Teachers are being encouraged to let the kids go home without assignments to complete on those dates. The first "no-homework" day will be September 13.

This move comes as schools and districts across the country are trying to figure out how much homework is too much. Some parents complain their children are overwhelmed and overworked.
