Hijacked plane, shooting in League City, 50th anniversary Vietnam War


Seven people remain on an EgyptAir plane that was hijacked flying from Alexandria to Cairo. Four crew members, three passengers are still on the aircraft with the hijacker after it landed in CypressEight Americans were on board at the time.


The FBI has broken into the IPhone that belonged to the gunman in the San Bernardino shooting without the help of Apple. A federal judge ordered the tech giant to provide the government with software to help it hack into Farook's work-issued phone. Apple hasn't commented on the new development.


The search is on for the gunman who shot and killed a man in League City last night on FM 517. A 22-year-old was shot in the parking lot. He died at the hospital. Investigators say the shooting was not random. The victim did know the gunman.


It's believed a clothes drier may be the cause of a house fire in southeast Houston. Flames broke out at the home on Minnesota last night. Firefighters made a fast attack, it appears the fire began in the garage and spread to the living room and kitchen. No one was injured.


Ceremonies will be held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War,  nearly 60,000 U.S. soldiers were killed in the conflict. The Department of Veterans Affairs is joining the Defense Department to designate today as a day to express gratitude and support for veterans.  Wreaths will be laid at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington.


And launch control software under development for NASA's deep space exploration program is a year behind schedule and tens of millions of dollars over budget. Development of the new software is projected to exceed $200 million, nearly 80 percent above  the 2012 budget plan.
